Pinnacle's rugged Half Cell Electrodes are designed to provide rapid and reliable pH results. The specially formulated glass membrane responds to hydrogen ion activity by developing an electrical potential across the half cell electrode's membrane. The potential inside the pH half cell electrode is fixed by the buffered pH filling solution. The half cell electrode uses a separate reference electrode whose potential is also constant. Any change in the potential of the electrical system is due to the pH of the solution, and is subsequently measured by the half cell electrodes.
